2 posts · Joined 2014. #1 · Jun 2, 2014. When riding the bike in warm weather and with the EITMS system enabled the bike makes a loud knocking noise when hot. Almost sounds like a rod knocking at idle but as soon as rpm are increased the noise goes away. An HD mechanic said this is normal but admits the sound on my bike is loud.

Your bike should have EITMS. Just do a quick test when you get home like I said, you don't even start the bike. HD released an updated ECM program that changes the EITMS kick-in temp to something above 360 degrees. I know because when I first took the bike to the dealer to check it, and the dealer updated the ECM, I have not yet had EITMS come on.
